Decoupling Climate Change and Land Use in Kruger National Park
In collaboration with the University of Mpumalanga's Biology and Environmental Sciences, this project uses multi-decadal remote sensing to disentangle the relative effects of climate change versus land-use change on bush encroachment.
Research Question
How do climate variables interact with land management practices (past and present) to drive woody plant encroachment in savanna ecosystems?
Methodology
Multi-decadal NDVI, LST, ET, and soil moisture analysis using GIS and Google Earth Engine. Statistical modeling includes multiple linear regression.
